it’s very stupid but i feel very safe talking about my passions here on tumblr. i mean twitter is fun and chaotic but in here there’s a sense of comradeship, almost like a “oh hey i know this things you’re saying you love, i love it too. here’s a funny comment about it that will leave you giggling and spiraling because how could you not think of that before????” and it’s funny because i have like 3 followers and i have this account for YEARS lmao (and i still feel seen i love that for me

TJ Klune keeps asking, “what if a real life disney prince fell in love with the human equivalent of a wet paper bag?”
And I keep reading to find out the answer

Still thinking about how a lot of asexual characters in media are like... aliens or robots or some other Non Human Entity™️ and how In The Lives Of Puppets by TJ Klune was like "actually fuck you the one human is the asexual one!! :)" like YESSSSS 🎉😭🥳

went to classes, socialized the entire time, came home, made coffee, sat by the window and read my favorite book with sun shining on the pages while listening to dark academia instrumental playlist, and suddenly everything is ok, nothing has ever been wrong and I don't have the rotting sadness consuming me from the inside out.

he's looking at Linus 👀👀
[ID: a digital drawing of Arthur Parnassus who stands with one foot propped provocatively on a stool as he looks down and away from the viewer. His wings of fire are out and lighting his body. One hand rests on his lifted leg as his chest (with visible top surgery scars) is turned slightly towards the viewer. The only thing he's wearing are a pair of blue socks with clouds. End ID]

Alright so on Thomas-
He’s such an important and well-written character, despite dying in the first book. His death is essential to the story, and to the development of all those around him, and here’s why. In life, he’s a leader, a father, a husband- an Alpha. He has responsibility, and is there to help and answer questions, and he represents a bridge between the events of the past and the past generation and the present and present generation. When he dies, that bridge is lost, that wealth of knowledge and answers and that person who is best fit to take responsibility for things of the past that come up in the present is gone- so what will everyone else do about it? So much of his life and character and actions is only revealed and made known in the later books- even to his own family. His absence forces them to grow and change on their own, they can’t simply go to him and demand an explanation for his past actions or that he take responsibility for something he did that’s echoed into the present. How do you reconcile someone who at the same time was your anchor, your glue, your rock- and still is in a way, even if only as a memory- with someone who it turns out you didn’t fully know, someone who you keep learning was imperfect, who made mistakes- ones you are forced to clean up? How do you understand the deep humanness of a legend who held the weight of the world on his shoulders when he’s not there to be asked?
It’s something that all the Bennetts deal with and struggle with throughout the series, most recently in my memory of course being Carter, who despite knowing that of course his father loved him, didn’t truly know or understand how deeply he truly loved him. And I can see how he wouldn’t, imagine if your father were such an imposing and legendary figure, who told you how important you were to be, and how that might affect your perception of him and your perception of his perception of you, no matter how he tried to hammer it in that he loved you all no matter what. It’s easy to be told something over and over again and to understand it on a surface level, but to actually internalize it and know it is a whole ‘nother thing. And so that moment when Elizabeth read’s Thomas’ letter to Carter’s Future is made so much more poignant and meaningful, as for once Carter can see through all the history and pain and past choices and actions and consequences and responsibilities and expectations to see his father in his rawest form, a father who loves him so dearly and so powerfully that that love is stronger than any other thing that could complicate their relationship.
The theme of family and kin is central to the story of the Green Creek series, and Thomas is the middle and core of that theme- the conflict of the whole overarching plot is rooted in family and love and Thomas’ trust in those he considers kin, whom he loves and trusts despite who they may be. He considers Richard Collins kin, in a way, he’s his second and deeply wants to trust him. Family, love, and kinship are incredibly powerful things with incredibly powerful bonds, and these same things can also destroy us, and Thomas Bennett shows both sides of this blade, he trusted Richard and his father trusted Robert Livingstone, therefore he later mistrusts Gordo for fear that his father tampered with his tattoos, and thus causes the turmoil between Mark and Gordo, but one could argue that it comes from a place of love. Thomas Bennett is love- both sides of it, he is family and kinship in all its beauty and ugliness, in its mistakes and righteousness. Even in death he binds everything and everyone together.

Hell followed with us has taken over my brain. I want a beaded lizard so bad. The autistic rep in this book was a little too relatable in some places, it made me realize that I have infact gone non-verbal before. Also the religious trauma💫. I didn't grow up in the same church in the book but its also a high demand Christian church.
I need to shove this book in everyone's face. It was on my to read list for almost a year before my friend told me to actually read jt.
Im.about to annotate my copy so much, mostly just highlighting my favorite parts. I'm so exited for Andrew Joseph White's next book to come out.
